Objectives

  • Project wider objective

    Improving livelihood of rural populations through promotion of affordable, efficient and appropriate biomass energy technologies in Surkhet.

    Project specific objectives

    • Provide the hands on skill for rural community specially women and DAG.
    • To install the Quality ICS.
    • To decrease the dependency on fire wood and reduce deforestation.

    To improve the living standards of rural poor people specially women.

Major Achivements

  • A total no. of 3359 Mud ICS installed at 35 VDCs of Surkhet district.
  • 29 VDCs level Action committee Meeting conducted.
  • 41 event Cluster level behavior change Workshop conducted
  • 1 Indoor air pollution frees VDC.
  • Total of 22 people (12 Male/10Female) were trained on Basic training on ICS technologies for Business group (stove Master) .
  • 22 cluster level behavior change workshop organized by ASTHA in district.
  • Formation of VDCs level Action committee while organized the VDC level consultative workshop.
  • IAP free declared Awalching VDC of Surkhet.

  • Conduct different training for PO staffs.
  • Facilitate the construction of rural infrastructures.
  • Facilitate conduction of IGAs.

    Project Location

    Rakham, Jhumkhare, Garpan, Salkot, Bagadichaur, BharigangaMunicipailityBirendranagar Municipality, Hariharpurkunathari, viddhapur, Babiyachaur, Ratu, Batan, Dashrtapur, kaprichaur, Agrigaun, Gadi, khanikhola, Pamka and Taranga in surkhet district.

     

    Participation of Women and DAG

    In Nepal most of energy source is fuel wood specially used for cooking purpose and traditional way of cooking has various negative impacts. So for the reduction of such negative impacts, Biomass Energy Program had been implemented in this district. In context of Nepal, Women are specially engaged for cooking purpose rather than men. So this project has been directly benefited the women.
