The PRSP project reduced extreme poverty in Achham by strengthening community organizations, promoting livelihoods, and building local infrastructure for marginalized groups.

Project Overview

The Poverty Alleviation Support Project (PRSP) was a sustained initiative aimed at reducing extreme forms of poverty in targeted program districts. By empowering marginalized communities through dialogue, institutional strengthening, and asset creation, the project worked to build a foundation for sustainable economic improvement and social inclusion.

Project Location

The project was implemented in the Achham District, specifically across the following local municipalities:

  • Panchadewal Binayak Municipality: Wards 2 & 3 (Binayak), 4 (Kalikastha), 5 (Layanti), 6 (Toli), 7 (Pulletola), and 9 (Kalekanda).

  • Mellekh Rural Municipality: Wards 1 & 2 (Rishidaha) and 3 (Thanti).

Major Achievements

The project delivered measurable results in community mobilization and development, with key achievements including:

  • Facilitated 35 local-level interactions to engage communities and identify needs.

  • Established and strengthened 87 functional Community Organizations (COs), primarily among Janjati (indigenous) groups.

  • Conducted 4 capacity development activities for CO members and project staff.

  • Supported 1,860 community members in launching income-generating activities.

  • Constructed 22 community infrastructure projects, enhancing local access to essential services and facilities.
