The LAPA project strengthened climate resilience in Kailali by promoting climate-smart agriculture, livelihood diversification, and community-based adaptation.

Project Overview:
The Local Adaptation Plan for Action (LAPA) project aimed to enhance climate resilience of vulnerable communities by strengthening the capacity of government agencies and local NGOs. The project supported the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices and livelihood diversification to reduce climate risk. Through community-based interventions, the project also improved awareness on climate change impacts and built local adaptation mechanisms for sustainable development.

Implementation Area:
Kailali District

Major Achievements:

  • Supported submergence-tolerant rice farming for 200 farmers across six VDCs in Kailali.

  • Promoted commercial vegetable farming and beekeeping for 40 farmers, enhancing income opportunities.

  • Supported fruit cultivation practices for 325 farmers in six VDCs.

  • Increased community awareness on climate change through street drama and local campaigns.

  • Established local adaptation funds for vulnerable communities in Narayanpur and Lalbhoji.
