ASTHA Nepal strengthens community disaster preparedness through DRR groups, WASH readiness, early warning systems, and inclusive emergency response in collaboration with local governments.

ASTHA Nepal has extensive experience in disaster risk reduction, emergency response, and humanitarian aid. Projects like the Emergency WASH Preparedness Project and Disaster Risk Management initiatives in Achham and Surkhet have strengthened local capacity through the formation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) groups, sanitation awareness, and relief distribution. The organization has supported vulnerable groups during disasters by building community-based preparedness systems. In the current context, Nepal faces rising climate-induced disasters such as floods and landslides, yet preparedness at the community level remains insufficient. ASTHA Nepal aims to address this by strengthening early warning systems, integrating disaster preparedness into local development planning, and ensuring gender-sensitive and inclusive emergency response mechanisms in collaboration with local governments.
