ASTHA Nepal

Climate Change and Biodiversity Conservation

ASTHA Nepal has made significant contributions in addressing climate change and biodiversity conservation through initiatives like the Biomass Energy Support Program, Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA), and other awareness-raising and climate resilience projects. These efforts have promoted clean energy alternatives, reduced dependency on firewood, and conserved local biodiversity. In the recent scenario, Nepal’s vulnerable ecological zones are under increasing stress due to erratic weather patterns, deforestation, and unsustainable resource use. ASTHA Nepal plans to expand its efforts by mainstreaming climate adaptation into local governance, promoting community-based conservation efforts, and advocating for sustainable climate policies. Future programs will focus on scaling renewable energy adoption, strengthening local adaptive capacity, and encouraging biodiversity-friendly agricultural practices.
